The Poodle is alert, active, intelligent, proud, and always carries himself with an air of dignity. Poodles are very affectionate animals that bond easily with their people. They love to spend a lot of time with their owners playing, learning social rules, and cuddling. Poodles are hardworking when given the chance. Intelligent and adaptable. They are very agile, athletic, and trainable. Poodles have excellent eyesight, a sharp sense of smell, and very good hearing. A Poodles fur is hypoallergenic and does not shed.The Standard Poodle is thought to be the most intelligent of all the dog breeds.
Benjamin L. Hart and Lynette A. Hart, authors of The Perfect Puppy, said of the Standard Poodle, "If you select a Standard Poodle, you will be selecting one of the top-ranked breeds in trainability." They continued by saying that the Standard Poodle is easy to obedience train as well as house-train. This size Poodle is very playful, usually good with children, and yet is not overly excitable.
